Toy Rides

toy carnival rides

I had this idea for a layout of toy-size carnival or circus rides, controlled with one motor. As with most such designs, it never got farther than this sketch. It may have been inspired by a cereal-box thing which involved cut-out circus acts, done in the early 40s, possibly by Kellogg's Pep cereal (a now long-gone favorite from my youth; but a check in Kellogg's memorabilia site shows no reference to a circus promotion), or it may have been Nabisco's Shredded Wheat (when they sold shredded wheat as large, hollow, pillow-shaped pieces about the size of some of today's cell phones, in the large Niagara Falls packages, they often used carboard divider pieces for promotial offers and cutouts and other things).
